NIGHT HIGHKE

Experience the enjoyment and challenge of a walk at night under the light of the almost Full Moon. For thousands of years, cultures all over the world have come together under Full Moons to connect and celebrate with nature, the universe and each other. We’ll meander together up Mt. Pollux in Amherst, then commune around the campfire at a nearby home.

This hike is 21+ and dogs are welcome!  

  • For beginner hikers

  • Bring 1-2L of water, bud and snack(s)

  • Weather-appropriate clothing

We’ll bike a 10k roundtrip as we make our way to the base of Mount Hunger and loop back around through some backroads, taking in all the fall foliage love.

Afterwards, feel free to cool off at Chronic Trips Camp swimming hole.

In 2022, the Frost Moon will be at its brightest on Tuesday, November 8 at 6:02 a.m. Eastern.

November’s Full Moon is also called the Beaver Moon and the Snow Moon.

This year, the Frost Moon features yet another total lunar eclipse, which will be at its peak at 5:59 a.m. Eastern on the same morning.

We will start by hiking the smaller mountains, then advance to the higher ones as we move through the 33 mountains assigned by the Catskill 3500 Club.

This program is designed for those who want to enjoy an elevated journey with their newfound trail family as we gradually make our way to each summit. Whether you are joining us to become a Catskill 3500 club member or to just enjoy nature in all its glory, we are here to foster a sense of place and encourage an elevated active and healthy lifestyle.

This month’s peak is Hunter & SW Hunter. We’ll meet at 9:00 am.

Reap what you have sown as the Harvest Moon rises on Saturday, September 10 at 5:59 a.m. Eastern.

This is also called Corn Moon, Fruit Moon, Barley Moon, and Hungry Ghost Moon.

The Harvest Moon is the name given to describe either the September or October Full Moon — which Full Moon earns the monicker actually depends on the timing of the Fall Equinox. Whichever month’s Full Moon is closest to the Equinox earns the title — and in 2022, September wins the battle.

The Fall Equinox is on Thursday, September 22, at 9:04 p.m. Eastern.
